Weekly Panther Athletics Update!
-and NOW from our SPORTS DESK - Athletic Director Mike Papenberg reports: Good Day Everyone! We hope that you had a great weekend. Here is a look at how our teams performed last week:
The Girls Soccer Team The Girls soccer team continued their hot start to the season going 2-0 on the week. The girls opened the week with a 7-0 shutout win over BCIT Medford. Jillian Hines and Mikayla Mangano each scored 2 goals while Cameron DiMeo, Meghan Austin and Addison Elliot each added a goal. Elsie Kenson made 2 saves to earn the shutout. On Thursday the girls defeated Moorestown Friends 5-0. Mikayla Mangano scored 2 goals to lead the attack. Meghan Austin, Cameron DiMeo and Addison Elliot added single goals. Elsie Kenson made 3 saves to earn the shutout win. The girls are now 4-1 on the season and will travel to Gateway High School for their next game this afternoon.
The Cross Country Team won On Tuesday the boys’ and girls’ cross country teams started the year off right with big wins over their first three opponents of the season! The boys were led by Johnny Hammond and TJ Peltz, with other strong performances from Justin Clemmons, Brock Weaver, Captain Carter May, Brian Festenstine, and Simon Jacobs. Together, they defeated Riverside, Burlington Township, and Delran. On the girls’ side, Maya Richman Dupont and Maddie Grimes ran outstanding times to help secure the team’s success.
The Boys Soccer Team went 1-1-1 on the week. The boys opened the week with a 1-1 tie against Florence High School. Justin Butler scored the Panthers goal off of an assist from Kian Briant. Deakon Haines made 10 saves in goal. The boys then defeated Moorestown Friends away on Wednesday 2-0 for their 1st win at Moorestown Friends since 2013. Justin Butler scored off of a Kian Briant corner in the 1st half. Jaxon McCamy finished a feed from Kian Briant in the 2nd half to ice the game for the Panthers. Deakon Haines made 5 saves in goal to earn the shutout win. The Panthers finished the week with a competitive loss to cross town rivals Cinnaminson High School. After a scoreless 1st half the Pirates scored to late 2nd half goals to beat the Panthers. Deakon Haines had a huge game in net making 16 saves to keep the Panthers in the game. The boys are now 2-3-2 on the season and will return to play on Wednesday at home against Riverside High School.
The Girls Tennis Team went 0-2 on the week. The girls lost to Cinnaminson 4-1 on Monday. The 2nd Doubles Team of Aubrie Hort and Olivia Gallagher defeated Cinnaminson 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. The girls lost to Delran on Friday 5-0. They will return to action this afternoon against Pemberton High School at Legion Field.
The Football Team The football team lost to KIPP Charter School on Saturday 48-0. They will head to Wildwood on Friday night for their next game.
=======================M I D D L E S C H O O L===========================
The Middle School Boys Soccer team played their 1st game of the season on Tuesday losing a close game to Pennsauken. Myles Hart had the goal for the Panthers. They will return to action tomorrow against Haddon Township with the B team taking on Moorestown on Thursday.
The Middle School Girls Soccer team also played their 1st game of the season on Tuesday, demolishing Pennsauken 7-0. Cecelia Ostroff had a hat trick to lead the offense. Izzy Primavera scored twice. Coco Brzycki had a goal and an assist. Charlotte Campbell added a goal and Alana Pirela added 2 assists. Emma McNab made 7 saves to earn the shutout. The girls will return to action on Thursday against Haddon Township and the B team against Moorestown.
