At Delaware Avenue School, we believe that regular attendance is one of the most important ways to support your child's success. Each day provides opportunities to build friendships, develop language and communication skills, establish routines, and participate in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Consistent attendance helps our Cubs develop the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.
Reporting an Absence
If your child will be absent, please notify the Delaware Avenue School Main Office before 9:00 a.m.

When calling, please provide:
- Your child's name
- Teacher's name
- Reason for the absence
- Expected return date, if available
If you know about a planned absence, please notify the school office in advance whenever possible.
Returning to School
Depending on the reason for the absence:
- Written documentation may be requested after two consecutive days of absence.
- A healthcare provider's note may be required following certain illnesses or communicable diseases before your child returns to school.
- Teachers will work with students to make up missed classroom learning whenever appropriate.
